Creative Critical Reflection #2 Draft

My film product engages with audiences using platforms of social media for example Instagram. The films that were researched for audience engagement were A Quiet Place, Happy Death Day, and The Nun. A Quiet Place aired their first trailer during the Super Bowl to an audience of over a hundred million, mini trailers on social media, and interactive features on Facebook. Happy Death Day engaged the audience through Instagram and Youtube. The Nun engaged the audience with an ad on Youtube that was retweeted but eventually taken down due to the graphic images. I thought they were effective since they used different social medias to reach their target audiences.
My partner and I plan to market our film to teenagers and young adults. We will have ads on TV, billboards and social media. We will have social media because lots of teens and young adults have  multiple forms of social media. Social media will be our primary form of advertising because the number of users between the ages 16 through 24 with is age range of our target audience. Instagram is the primary social media we will use because Instagram has the highest percent of users being 16-24 which is 37 percent. This percent is higher than the number of 16 through 24 year old on any other form of social media. The TV shows that we will have ads on will be horror and/or mystery shows. We also want to advertise to more than just our target audience.
The traditional distribution model for a film is filmmakers assigning their film to one or more distributors, who then make all the sales. A film distributor is responsible for marketing the film. Film distribution is the process of making a film available for viewing by an audience. The film may be displayed directly to the public either through a movie theater, on TV, or personal home viewing like on demand.
The films I researched for digital distribution were Split, Ready or Not, and The Conjuring 2. Split used many different distribution methods to lure and audience and get more revenue for example released on different dates to the theater, digital HD, Blu-ray, DVD, On-Demand, Amazon Prime, and Youtube. Ready or Not used many different distribution methods with different release dates like the theaters, DVD, and Blu-ray however they used one different, Red Box. The Conjuring 2 used many different distribution methods with different release dates for example the theaters, digital download, DVD, Blu-ray, On-Demand, along with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Youtube. I thought these methods of digital distribution were effective because they were able to reach various audiences.
My partner and I plan for distributing our product is to release our film to theaters. Then after the traditional 90 days to have it released on DVD, Blu-ray, and On Demand. We plan on using streaming services to put our film on the market because streaming services reach a larger viewing audience. Our target audience is young adults and teens and they spend a lot of time on their phones. Most streaming services have apps that can be downloaded onto phones allowing the viewers to have more access to our movie. Our film will also be available on Netflix and YouTube which will allow teens who did not see it in theaters to watch it by buying or renting the film. Also this will enable more of our target audience to watch the film and thus reaching more than our target audience.
